New CEF projects: SI-PASS and eID4U

7. mar 2018 · E5

The Laboratory for Open Systems and Networks at the Jožef Stefan Institute started two new projects from the EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme in 2018: SI-PASS and eID4U.

The main goal of the SI-PASS project, coordinated by the Laboratory for Open Systems and Networks, is to establish a production-ready Slovenian eIDAS node and integrate four existing public and one private cross-border e-service into the node. The services cover the domains of eHealth, pension and disability insurance, intellectual property protection, business registers, and electronic business transactions. Integrating these services into the eIDAS node will enable EU citizens to access the services using their national electronic identification means, and will provide service providers with more reliable verification of user identity.

In the eID4U project, we will collaborate on creating a virtual student card for Erasmus students based on eIDAS attributes and new attributes required for the academic environment. Project partners will also establish secure cross-border services (e-registration, e-login, and e-access) that will allow foreign users, such as foreign exchange students, to easily use educational services and the wireless network.
