A novel approach to education in the area of digital forensics, based on a cloud-based infrastructure, was presented at multiple conferences and in articles. The tool is installed and accessible over the cloud-based infrastructure of the Dynamic Forensic Education Alliance. Cloud computing provides an efficient mechanism for a range of services that offer realistic environments for teaching and training in cybersecurity and digital forensics. The cloud-based infrastructure, the virtualized environment, and the developed solution enable the construction of a dynamic e-learning environment that brings training close to real-life situations.
The article was published in the International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning (2016) under the title “An Advanced Educational Tool for Digital Forensic Engineering,” authored by Primož Cigoj and Borka Jerman Blažič. Dr. Melissa Layne, who serves as the AVP for Product Development at the American Public University System, expressed interest in further research related to the article.
