The Slovenian Internet Society ISOC-SI, together with national Internet Society chapters and the companies Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai and Limelight Networks, participated in organizing World IPv6 Day, which took place on 8 June 2011. The event was aimed at promoting the transition to the IPv6 protocol and included a 24-hour test called "Does your computer speak the language of IPv6?".
The goal of the event was to motivate industrial organizations, internet service providers, manufacturers of electronic components and operating systems, and online communities to adopt and use the IPv6 protocol and, through their services, ensure a successful transition from the IPv4 protocol, which is running out of addresses, to the new IPv6 protocol.
The Slovenian Internet Society ISOC-SI adopted a declaration on 3 June 2011, which classifies access to the Internet as a fundamental human right. Given that the Internet has become an indispensable tool in realizing the broadest spectrum of human rights, combating inequality, and promoting development and progress, ensuring access to the Internet must become a priority area in all countries.
