The TUTOREM Training School: Research Methods for Human-Computer Interaction took place from 5 to 9 November 2012 at Hotel Kompas in Bled, Slovenia. The school aimed to improve participants' understanding of research methods commonly or increasingly used in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI). This enhanced understanding enabled participants to select and combine appropriate research methods for their specific HCI projects and to contextualise them without unintended impacts on validity. Although time constraints limited dedicated sessions on HCI theories, relevant theoretical frameworks were addressed in individual sessions of the school, which consisted of lectures, workshops, and discussions. Student participants collaboratively worked in small groups on mini-projects whose topics were identified by the school's lecturers.
Organizing Committee: the main organizers were Effie Lai-Chong Law (University of Leicester, UK / ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and Gilbert Cockton (Northumbria University, UK). The local organizers were Matic Pipan and Tanja Arh (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia).
