Horizon 2020
HORIZON 2020
Horizon 2020 was the EU programme for research and innovation.
The Laboratory participated in eight projects under the Horizon 2020 programme:
DEFENDER – Defending the European Energy Infrastructures. Our task in the DEFENDER project was research and development of solutions in the area of securing critical energy infrastructure. We analysed security threats and risks and developed solutions for their mitigation. The security solutions were evaluated in a real pilot environment of the Slovenian transmission system operator ELES.
COMPACT – Coordination and Support Action Bridging Eastern and Western Europe for better social media regulation in a converged environment. The project carried out extensive research on policies and regulatory frameworks and efforts towards pre-standardisation in social media for preventing fake news, hate speech and, in general, disinformation. The Laboratory for Open Systems and Networks led the work package on policies and regulatory frameworks, where a methodology for studying the regulatory landscape in EU countries was developed and implemented.
CONCORDIA – Cyber security cOmpeteNCe fOr Research anD InnovAtion. The aim of the CONCORDIA project was to build European secure, resilient and trustworthy ecosystems. Our laboratory participated with research and development activities in the area of trust management, identity management, e-health services and smart solutions for preventing and detecting threats in the area of cybersecurity.
iFlex – Intelligent Assistants for Flexibility Management. In the project we planned, developed and evaluated support tools for effective end-user engagement in diverse services of the future smart energy grid to achieve sustainability goals of users and their buildings.
BD4OPEM – Big Data for Open Innovation Energy Marketplace. In the project we developed a data-driven system that enables the development of innovative services for the needs of energy system stakeholders.
DE4A – Digital Europe for all. The project facilitated EU Member States' transition to secure European cross-border digital public services, strengthened trust in public institutions and increased their efficiency and reduced administrative burdens and costs. It also simplified cross-border use of selected procedures, systems and platforms and demonstrated the benefits in cross-border implementation of the "once only" and "digital first" principles.
Flex4Grid – Flexibility Management of Smart Grid Users. The aim of the project was to study the possibilities of exploiting user flexibility in electricity consumption. With the help of innovative ICT services for exploiting flexibility, we achieved an improvement in the operation of the smart energy grid.
Athena – The aims of the project were to remove barriers to employment and career advancement of female researchers, reduce gender imbalance in decision-making processes and create a culture of change that is needed to avoid gender bias and discriminatory practices. For this purpose we produced a gender equality plan (GEP) and monitored its implementation.
