Software & tools
Tools, platforms and protocols built by the laboratory in its research and project work.
VulNET
Large-scale website vulnerability detection
Primož Cigoj, young associate of our laboratory, has developed a new tool for detection of vulnerable websites at large scale under the mentorship of prof. dr. Borka Jerman Blažič. VulNET is a unique newly developed tool for the vulnerability identification of the majority of the Internet sites with WCMS applications. With the usage of VulNET the users can overcome the deficiencies of the known tools. The tool is developed with an aim to review most of the WCMS on the Internet and to compare the security pictures collected in different timeframes. The key feature of the tool is the ability to perform automated, fast, and dynamic vulnerability scan of WCMS and the attached plug-ins on a large scale, with an in-built system that respects the ethics of web scanning.
EDUFORS
An advanced tool for education of digital forensic engineering
We have presented in multiple articles and conferences a novel approach to education in the area of digital forensics based on a multi-platform cloud-computer infrastructure and an innovative computer based tool. The tool is installed and offered over the cloud-based infrastructure of the Dynamic Forensic Education Alliance. Cloud computing provides an efficient mechanism for a wide range of services that offer real-life environments for teaching and training cybersecurity and digital forensics. The cloud-based infrastructure, the virtualized environment and the developed educational tool enable construction of a dynamic e-learning environment, making the training very close to reality and to real-life situations.
MUPOSS
An Authentication and Authorization Solution for a Multi-Platform Cloud Environment
Providing security at all levels within the multi-platform cloud-computing environment is still not considered to be properly solved, due to a variety of problems arising from technical and human-based sources. We have developed an authentication-and-authorization solution based on the Single Sign-On (SSO) approach for cloud-service users and administrators in a multi-platform environment. The system developed enables user authentication for clouds provided as Infrastructure as a Service, built up from different OS systems. The solution enables the use of different services based on credentials that are authenticated only once, and enables simple and efficient administration of the relevant data.
